Newsletter & photo

Here is a copy of the newsletter that I had every intention of sending out today but forgot. I will send it home on Monday instead.

We had a lovely poem this week called 'A smile.' It has gone home tonight in the Poem book but we ran out of time to glue it in. If you can glue it in the book, please do so. Otherwise we will do it on Monday when it comes back to class. Next week we should have bookbags up and running and everything sorted. Have a great weekend.

Just wanted to show you how good we are at wearing our hats:

Swimming News & Maths Time

Swimming

Great News!! Alannah from Swimsafe is coming into school next week to help us with swimming. We have been given a different time slot - only for next week as she is here for 2 days only. Our swimming time will be:

Wednesday 5 February 11.15-12pm.

Maths

We are learning to use the maths board games and the maths computer games.  See how great we are at working together.

**News flash**

There is no swimming this Friday as the pool is being used by another group so first swimming for the year is after Waitangi Day.

My newsletter is due out on Friday to let you know all the important information.

If you have any queries, please feel free to let me know.

First Day Room 23

We had a fun day today, going on a scavenger hunt to different places in the school.  We went to the playground, garden, library, pool, top playground, front field and even to the office. Mr Limbrick gave us bookmarks. How cool!

Welcome to Room 23 for 2014

Tena Koutou Katoa. Welcome to our new blog for the new year!

I am sure the children have had wonderful holiday experiences that they can't wait to share with their new classmates. This is me at Kelly Tarlton's. I'm the same size as a penguin!
The office  was open last week from 9 till 3 for uniform, fees and stationery enquiries. Stationery is purchased as a Year 2 pack costing $30 or $25 for loyalty card members. Purchases may be made before and after school.

This year I will be asking you to email me your email address [ taniam@arahoe.school.nz ] so that school notices can be forwarded directly to you. No more notices falling out of bookbags. Hurray!

Look on the Ara Teina topic page for information about our GREEN topic this year. Sustainability is our key concept and this term we are going to focus on personal sustainability or making good choices and managing ourselves to create a happy and sustainable class.

Our Library day is Monday and swimming is yet to be advised. I will not send reading books home until bookbags and notebooks have been set up which will probably be the second week. Hope you had a lovely long weekend.

Swimming is Friday last block. Please send named swimming costumes, towels and goggles(optional) in a plastic or swimming bag.

Looking forward to seeing you all, Room 23 on 28th January.
